INSECURE

Am I the only one who has been sleep on the HBO series: INSECURE? First off, where has this explosion of  black realness been all my life.  I mean, y’all cannot understood that from the 1st episode I was in love. I ended up binge watching  all eight episodes in one night.

I am not a big HBO viewer, so I was not ready for the laying of that D (lol) and a large helping of “I’ll beat it , beat it up.” Hahahaha. To say that I  am “into” this show is an understatement.  The characters are so identifiable.  Hold up! Don’t judge me. Not all the situations I personally experienced but it was still some real issh in every episode. I was captivated by these two black women who spoke just like my friends and I. I mean, we all curse and get ratchet from time to time. We, just like Issa and Molly were chameleons who could switch it up when necessary (like at work ). Issa and Molly are facing life ugly curves balls one day at a time.

They’re relationships are like ones we actually know. Inside each relationship whether it is the main squeeze or  the guy you call for a quickie, you’ll reflect on these messy situations. Even though I am married, not all of my close friends are and we constantly share stories about our relationships, sex, and work life. So I see them in a few episodes which made me burst into laughter or snap at the television.

I love the bond that Issa and Lawrence(boyfriend) shared. Though they faced hardships like many  couples do, they were tempted and always tested. The balance and screw ups reminded viewers you don’t miss a good thing until it’s gone. I give this series 4 thumbs up. That’s from my husband and I. For the record, Lawrence never technically left Issa, but there was a huge surprise to end the season that I was not ready for. No spoiler alerts. Go watch it for yourself lol. I am so excited and ready for season 2 Insecure. Go Black Girl! Go!

**Please keep in mind this is an adult series. I do not recommend to watch this show with anyone under the age of 18.**

Work Life Struggles…

Does anyone know what  “Work Life Struggles” are?

  • When your place of employment is on your list of top 3 things you hate.
  • You do your best to arrive to work on time but you still arrive late.
  • You hate going there but you have a life full of responsibilities so you have to endure.
  • You know your potential is for beyond the position you currently hold so you give 210% just because you have mastered that title.( & you don’t want anyone in your face saying you don’t do enough)
  • You hate your job but every morning you come in with a smile on your face just to get you through the day but you run out  as soon your shift is up.
  • Having to dull your shine because opportunity Is not there.
  •  Hating your job so much to the point you don’t want your lazy coworkers saying anything to you.
  • When you take your lunch breaks and don’t want to come back

Many of us have all experienced this in life from job to job. Personally, I am an artist. Creativity and an eagerness for more knowledge is my strength. Wherever I go in life I set  goals with time frames. I try to always meet the due date of each goal. I never plan to be just a worker at the bottom of the corporate web(Yeah it’s not a ladder anymore). Any position that I am, I master that and I get hungry for growth. Even when I hate a job I still love opportunities to grow. I would never work for a company that has no growth opportunities. If I feel like I am being kept still due to the lack of management wanting to train. I will get bored and move on through prayer and faith.

How to deal with Work Life Struggles:

  • Choosing the right prayer for each and everyday(know that this situation is temporary)
  • Having at least one great friend at work who helps you get through your days
  • Know you are potential and God will move you into your passion (You have to listen to him)
  • Don’t be complacent CHANGE is always possible
  • Be sure to always do your best. No matter how you feel about the job. If you hate it that much quit.  (Your customers and clients should not have to deal with your attitude because you hate your job lol)

How do you deal with Work Life Struggles? Comment and let me know.

Don’t forget. Keeping it pretty, is keeping it positive!

Anna’s Inspired

I think its about time I pick up a few new talents. Well they aren’t talents yet but they will be. I say this because everything I put my mind to start, I finish it with a bang. I know that I have a mind full of creative ideas that I am super excited to bring to life.

There is this Black Artist Connect group I am apart of on Facebook. The group is so inspiring. Numerous of black artist post their creations some old and others new. Their processes are so beautiful and like supplements for the soul to the brain. Yesss, you get so inspired. The page is filled with artist of all kinds. It’s not just art by paint, sketches, or even digital work. Some of them are welders, photographers, musicians, and even writers. The group is everything, trust me.

A few of the artists I actually follow on Instagram. One in particular I just purchased a magnificent notebook from her, where she has her artwork drawn out on the front page. I am waiting for it to be shipped. I will post once I receive it. She is very talented. I never knew there were so many young black artists in the world.

So with all this being said. I am reopening my artistic doors that lead to my soul. I remember sketching clothing designs when I was in middle and high school. So I want to add artist under my belt. With practice all great things become perfect. I am SUPER excited.

Evolution of Self: There’s More!!

1362201-designstyle-welcome-m

Hey Everyone,

I hope this month has been great to you all. Lets dig a little deeper into self  growth.

I have learned the best way to grow is trying new things. So let’s get New. New things can take place in your life, career, goals, hobbies, and anything you want to make flawless that consist of YOU.

308a7b050e60cadfbb848b3ef60c3828

Make it New!

Trying new things is a sure way to improve self growth. You can open your mind to new adventures and people. For instance, if you love shopping on the weekends during your downtime. Taking walks through the local mall strips that are along lakes and nature parks will help you to relax while shopping. This is a nice way for you to familiarize yourself with the environment and also learn new things about your community. A new hobby could be going on bike rides, picking a new activity to do every weekend. Learning a new language or eating at a new and different restaurant than you normally do is a easy. Trying new things like I stated before will help  you to have an open mind about many things in life.

Dear Future Me:

Have you ever thought about writing a letter to your future self. The letter could be set for you 2,5, or 10 years from now. It’s up to you. Writing a future letter to yourself will help you see your growth on where you are currently to where you aim to be. For me, I don’t ever want to let myself down. So writing a letter helps me to map out my journey to meeting any goals and following through. Try it and let me know how it works for you.

No Zones Allowed!

Getting out your comfort zone is a sure fire way to ensure self growth. Can you name a person who has done the same thing for years and never changed anything but they have grown? Growth comes with change and change happens when you get out of your comfort zone. Maybe you are shy. Try being the first to introduce yourself on a date night with new friends or in group events.  What you are not as confident as other.  You could try recording yourself in a video and post to your social media page and say two tears in a bucket! (LOL YOU KNOW THE REST).

I honestly feel as though you can never stop growing. We set the boundaries for yourselves and we can change them when necessary. I am an avid reader and love to expand my knowledge. I still do have a few comfort zones that I need to get out of. I am working on them this year though.

Don’t forget:

  • Try new things
  • Write a letter to your future self to monitor your growth
  • Get out of your comfort zone

Self Improvement/Growth

This month I am focusing on Evolution of Self

Self Improvement/Growth

Self-Improvement

I am still learning that to refine the things we love, we must polish ourselves. This means that we must improve who we are to be the best we can be at everything our hands touch. We are all goal getters and future trendsetters. We must always allow room for improvement, most importantly in ourselves.

Overcome Your  Fears

No one is perfect. Every individual has fears that they wish to conquer. Sometimes our fears hold us back from reaching our full potential. Tap into those fears. The number one fear that I have found that many can relate to is, fear of failure. So what you failed at something. Does this mean you give up? Of course  not. You look at  approach. What can you change about where you went wrong? If you were the outsider what would you have changed? When you aren’t afraid to fail you transform yourself into this empowered individual who looks at failure as opportunities for growth.

Don’t Procrastinate/Get Organized

I am extremely guilty of being a procrastinator. When I have assignment due for class. I would wait until the day before the assignment is due to actually start looking at what the requirements are. This is not good. Getting a jump start on life is never a bad thing. Organization helps with procrastination issues.  Trust me, from personal experience being organized has never steered me in the wrong direction. Using a planner, calendar on your phone, or even keeping a to-do list handy will help you get  things done. This also means less stress because you can look ahead and prepare accordingly.

Fix Your Flaws

Flaws can be in characteristics as well as appearances. I will start with what I have found to be some  of my flaws. I use to be very defensive. Defensiveness is when you take criticisms and correctives in a negative way. Being open-minded helps to realize that depending on who feedback is from is very constructive. Other may deal with being so eager to please people or those who have that “Entitlement” Attitude. Embracing your flaws means you research them and turn them into your best features.

Learn from those who inspire that you admire

Following positive and inspiring people can only help you to move forward in all aspects of your life. Make a list of people you admire and how they inspire you or even other people. Try having weekly conversations with these inspirational and motivational people. I am sure whatever questions you have about your journey to success and greatness, they can answer.

Anna’s Thoughts:

As you know, I will always give the best and most honest advice and tips I can offer. With all the projects I have coming forward this year I know that they will never take off if I don’t have myself together. I am a brand ambassador for Anna. When people see me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and in real life. They see and meet every part of me.

Evolution of SELF

Blessed February Everyone!

Yes, we have started a new month today in this beautiful year of 2016. I want to start off this month by focusing on the “Evolution of Self”. Are you setting goals for yourself this month? Have you planned to try new things and meet new people this month? Have you evolved lately? Why not? Evolve, you can do it. I’ll help you.

Evolution is best defined as:

  • the gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form.

I believe that many us have ideas about how we want to be better in our lives but are afraid to act out on them. What are you waiting for? Making personal changes starts within us. It begins as a personal journey through our souls and mind. Starting off simple, we can start by changing our reactions to negative people and negative energies.

Here is something I tried at work. Due to the amount of negative energy that floats around the office. I decided to not talk and mingle with some coworkers. When asked why I seem so quiet lately. I simply replied that I am being more observant and I don’t want to open doors for negativity. Its been a few weeks now and I must say my days are more positive and people keep their negative comments and “tea’s” to themselves.

I will focus this month on Evolution of Self. Each Monday for the entire month of February, I will post to help assist everyone in a positive evolution of SELF.

The Art of Forgiving

1362201-designstyle-welcome-m

Hello 2016,

I hope everyone has entered the new year with open hearts, optimism, and new goals to reach.

First and foremost, let us be thankful that we have made it into another year because not everyone from our 2015 made it with us.  I am pretty sure a few of you are like me when it comes to starting new opportunities,  new relationships, or even a new year. There are bags and suitcases I never want to take with me specifically in the new year. Bags and suitcases symbolize all the unhealthy and negative things that go on in our lives that we carry with us. These things, places, or people become a burden to us overtime. I have found that there is and “ART” that can help us to drop some of that baggage.

My Top 2 Reasons to Forgive:

To Be Set Free & Understanding You Matter Most

Letting go does not mean that you just put hurt, pain, betrayal, or the wrongdoings of another to the side. It means that you should not hold grudges nor hold on to this negative energy that has a hold on you. Forgiving is something that occurs in everyone so differently. For you, it may be easy to forgive and move on. While for another person who has harbored the pain inside them and it has turned into anger. It may not be so easy to forgive. Once you pray and find yourself in a place where you want to be set free. You simply forgive. You forgive, for you, Not anyone else. You remove the weighs from your soul and the bullets from your heart. You feel happier knowing your spirit has been set free.

There is an old saying that you should forgive and never forget. I believe that if you forgive whole-heartedly, you’ll forget over time. Please don’t misunderstand my use of the statement “forget over time.” It simply means that you’ll forgive with all your heart. Next, comes liberation from that negativity, hurt, and pain. Over time, you must remember these pains and moments of hurt so that you equip yourself properly in life with new relationships with people whether family or friends. Ultimately, forgiving is something I have found to be a strength. The powers of forgiving will open the door for things we could not have imagined. Most certainly on a spiritual level.

The art of Forgiving is found within the heart, mind, and soul. You dig deep into this place of strength that not everyone knows they are capable of. There have been many moments where I was put to the test and forgiving was not even an option I wanted to consider. If there has every been any one who has wronged or hurt me in anyway shape or form. I have always forgiven because I have learned the art of it. If you are dealing with certain situations don’t be upset if you have not found it in your heart to forgive someone. This is why we have the power of prayer.
