The Power of Sistahood (Open Letter to My Lost Sistas)

My sista,

How dare you engage in this undignified competition to merely be one step higher than your sista? I’m finding it beyond belief that we are unable to exist peacefully and positively side by side. Maybe you misplaced the vision somewhere around the time you decided to trade in your teamwork makes the dream work mindset, for your new faux furs, ass shots and selfish ways.

My sista,

Let me be the Queen to remind you that WE can win together.

The Power of Sistahood is often under estimated. Do you know why?  Most times we fall short of the worlds expectations and honey those unrealistic standards are not our reality. Maybe reality tv is what they have in mind. That shit does not  reflect much of a sistahood nowadays. Remember when Big Mama would say “it’s the sign of the times.”

My sista,

It is time. Your sistas. Me. Your sista, have witnessed you degrade your self worth one time too many.   Our ancestors will rise from their graves in indignation of you having served up your values on platter to the wolves.

Just in case you are not as intellectual as you used to be, meaning, you have dumbed down your resume for them folks, see, them folks don’t give a shit about you, them folk got you cooning, sista you have been the real joke.

The moment when you choke off the fumes from that green grass they handed your ass, from the other side, which turned out to be blood on your hands, so filled with pride

My sista,

I know you may feel so high up, you could care less about your roots. But I won’t stop writing you letters and sending you our prayers.

To Come back, You can always come back

Your loving sista,

Anna Williams

INSECURE

Am I the only one who has been sleep on the HBO series: INSECURE? First off, where has this explosion of  black realness been all my life.  I mean, y’all cannot understood that from the 1st episode I was in love. I ended up binge watching  all eight episodes in one night.

I am not a big HBO viewer, so I was not ready for the laying of that D (lol) and a large helping of “I’ll beat it , beat it up.” Hahahaha. To say that I  am “into” this show is an understatement.  The characters are so identifiable.  Hold up! Don’t judge me. Not all the situations I personally experienced but it was still some real issh in every episode. I was captivated by these two black women who spoke just like my friends and I. I mean, we all curse and get ratchet from time to time. We, just like Issa and Molly were chameleons who could switch it up when necessary (like at work ). Issa and Molly are facing life ugly curves balls one day at a time.

They’re relationships are like ones we actually know. Inside each relationship whether it is the main squeeze or  the guy you call for a quickie, you’ll reflect on these messy situations. Even though I am married, not all of my close friends are and we constantly share stories about our relationships, sex, and work life. So I see them in a few episodes which made me burst into laughter or snap at the television.

I love the bond that Issa and Lawrence(boyfriend) shared. Though they faced hardships like many  couples do, they were tempted and always tested. The balance and screw ups reminded viewers you don’t miss a good thing until it’s gone. I give this series 4 thumbs up. That’s from my husband and I. For the record, Lawrence never technically left Issa, but there was a huge surprise to end the season that I was not ready for. No spoiler alerts. Go watch it for yourself lol. I am so excited and ready for season 2 Insecure. Go Black Girl! Go!

**Please keep in mind this is an adult series. I do not recommend to watch this show with anyone under the age of 18.**

Wrapping Up 2016 with Anna

It seems like forever since I last posted. I am still here inspiring the world through positive vibes and doing good deeds. A wise man once said:

Service to others is the rent you pay for

your room here on earth.

A brief description of my year can be simplified as trial and error. Quitting what most people would consider a “damn good job” to venture out in search of happiness elsewhere. Allowed me to launch my own online business “EveryPartofAnna Boutique”  with the support of my fellow Queens it has done well. I also opened my home based art club Creative Connections KAC for the community youth ages 2-10.

2016 was a year of soul searching. I have been perfecting my poetic gifts to share with the world. I have been blessed to meet and befriend so many talented Queens & Kings this year. My husband and I have mastered the art of budgeting lol.

I am currently 2 weeks away from my 1 year Big Chop Anniversary. Yayyyyyyyyy!!! 1 year fully natural no heat. Its been a beautiful hair journey.

This is just a snippet of my year.Nonetheless,  I am very thankful for all the blessings and lessons received. Many souls I have decided to leave behind and very little I am willing to take forward with me in my upcoming year. When I think of 2017:

I envision BLACK LIBERATION, UNITY IN BLACK COMMUNITIES, SHARING OUR GUIDES TO OWNERSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER, SELF LOVE & PRESERVATION.

My mission will always remain the same:

To inspire the world piece by peace. Positively.

Special thanks to my husband Avery for being my rock and #1 fan no matter how many goals I set for myself, you are there to keep my plan to reach them in order. My aunt Tesheda, who motivates and captivates me in ways she will never know. All of the friends and family who have supported any of my endeavors. You are greatly appreciated.

Anna’s Inspired

I think its about time I pick up a few new talents. Well they aren’t talents yet but they will be. I say this because everything I put my mind to start, I finish it with a bang. I know that I have a mind full of creative ideas that I am super excited to bring to life.

There is this Black Artist Connect group I am apart of on Facebook. The group is so inspiring. Numerous of black artist post their creations some old and others new. Their processes are so beautiful and like supplements for the soul to the brain. Yesss, you get so inspired. The page is filled with artist of all kinds. It’s not just art by paint, sketches, or even digital work. Some of them are welders, photographers, musicians, and even writers. The group is everything, trust me.

A few of the artists I actually follow on Instagram. One in particular I just purchased a magnificent notebook from her, where she has her artwork drawn out on the front page. I am waiting for it to be shipped. I will post once I receive it. She is very talented. I never knew there were so many young black artists in the world.

So with all this being said. I am reopening my artistic doors that lead to my soul. I remember sketching clothing designs when I was in middle and high school. So I want to add artist under my belt. With practice all great things become perfect. I am SUPER excited.
